Iida Oka-no-Machi (Hill Town) Festival
Every year on November 3, a festival celebrating modern subculture and local fine food, known as “Oka Fes”, features a mascot “Namiki chan”, voiced by a popular voice actress, and “cosplayers” in fancy dress parading around the city’s famous Apple Tree-Lined Avenue. Cars called “Itasha”, decorated with paintings of animation characters on the body, gather along the streets, enlivening the festive atmosphere.
