Mizuhiki Decorative Art (Traditional Paper Cord)

Connecting people, connecting hearts…
Mizuhiki are the traditional decorative cords made of tightly spun Japanese paper. Among various colored cords, white Mizuhiki, called “Motoyui” were used to do one’s hair in the Edo period and are still used today to tie the topknot of a sumo wrestler. Traditional Mizuhiki works are highly artistic and can be seen as elaborate embellishments on traditional gift-envelops at weddings and funerals.
Iida produces the best quality Mizuhiki cord and currently holds the top market share.
