Shimoguri-no-Sato, located in southeastern Iida, is a small settlement scattered along the steep sides of a mountain, where people living there are daily preserving their unique culture.
A lookout point on a nearby hilltop gives visitors a commanding view of the village surrounded by the beautiful mountains of the Japanese Southern Alps.
This area, which includes Shimoguri-no-Sato, is called “Toyama-go (Toyama Valley)”, one of the most well-known sightseeing spots in southern Nagano prefecture.
