Project Description

Ippon-Sakura (Lone-standing Cherry Blossom Trees)

Iida has a rich treasure trove of lone-standing cherry trees called Ippon-Sakura. Each of these beautifully shaped, postcard-inspiring trees, some of which are over 300 years old, has their own unique charm. Legend has it one was planted in 1240, another boasts of a flower that has 350 petals, still another is over 20 meters tall. Local Sakura-Mori conservationists give guided tours to visitors in spring when the trees blossom spectacularly.
